About the Institute
Teaching is the profession exercised by most graduates of Arabic Islamic universities in West Africa. Committed to improving Arabic-Islamic education in the region, the Islamic University of Niger established the Higher Institute of Education and Teacher Training in 1995 to strengthen the skills of teachers, advisors, inspectors and administrators.
Since its creation, the Institute has trained over 790 educational cadres (758 teachers and 32 pedagogical advisors) of various nationalities. Our pedagogical approach combines scientific rigor, practical training and ethical values to prepare our students for the teaching profession in secondary education of Arabic and Islamic sciences.
Our Mission
To train teachers qualified scientifically and pedagogically for secondary education in Arabic and Islamic sciences, to rehabilitate and improve educational cadres in the Arabic-Islamic sector across Africa, and to conduct pedagogical research to develop Arabic-Islamic education in the region.

Our Training Programs
A one-year program leading to the CAPES certificate
Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude for Secondary Teaching (CAPES)
1 year - 2 semesters
Upon successful completion of all courses, including the practical internship and final dissertation, the Institute awards the CAPES certificate. Admission is by entrance exam and requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university. The Institute uses a sequential system that allows graduates from non-pedagogical faculties to enroll after their university studies.

Admission Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university
- Pass the entrance exam organized annually by the Institute
- Provide all required supporting documents

- Written application addressed to the University Rector
- Certified copy of the Bachelor's degree
- Certified copy of the academic transcript
- Certified copy of birth certificate, ID card or passport
- Certified copy of nationality certificate
- Police clearance certificate (less than 3 months old)
- Certificate of good conduct from the home university
- Medical certificate confirming absence of contagious disease (less than 3 months old)
- Four color identity photos
